Chevrolet Spark background information
The Chevrolet Spark is a subcompact car produced by General Motors since 2005. Until 2015, it was known in some markets as Daewoo Matiz.
Currently, all three generations of the vehicle remain in production, but in different markets.
First generation (M200 / M250)
At the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the Chevrolet M3X concept was unveiled, forming the basis for the second generation of the Matiz model, presented a year later. In Europe and the CIS, the new generation car was named Chevrolet Spark.
The new model was designed by ItalDesign Giugiaro studio. The model received an updated line of engines, a lower drag coefficient and lower fuel consumption. The interior of the model was also heavily changed, for example, the instrument panel was moved from the driver’s side of the dash to the central part. Also, the suspension has undergone significant changes.
Second generation (M300)
At the 2007 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet’s Beat, Trax and Groove concepts were unveiled.
The Beat concept is a three-door hatchback based on the Daewoo Kalos model. 1.2 L turbodiesel engine complete with automatic transmission.
In 2007, a survey was conducted on the official Chevrolet website which of the above three concepts people liked the most. 50% of the votes went to Beat, which was the impetus for the start of serial production after 2 years.
Third generation (M400)
The third and 2021 current generation model was unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show. Sales of the model started in the fourth quarter of 2015. The model is closely related to the Opel Karl.
The car comes with a choice of two engines: a 1.0 liter 75 hp engine (available only in South Korea) and a 1.4 liter 98 hp engine, both gasoline.
