1 января 1991 г. Президент Республики Казахстан Нурсултан Абишевич Назарбаев подписал Указ о создании Международного банка «Аль Барака Казахстан», правоприемником которого в последствии стал ОАО «Банк «Каспийский». МБ «Аль Барака Казахстан» отводилась одна из ведущих ролей в осуществлении международных расчетов, привлечении и обслуживании иностранных инвестиций в экономику Республики Казахстан. За шестилетний период эффективной деятельности Банк укрепил свою репутацию международного банка и создал представительную сеть клиентов, заняв прочные позиции среди банков – лидеров Республики Казахстан.

12 января 1997 г. В связи с проведением обязательной перерегистрации в соответствии с требованиями действующего законодательства Республики Казахстан МБ «Аль Барака Казахстан» был переименован в Закрытое Акционерное Общество «Банк «Каспийский»


В апреле 1997 г. ЗАО «Банк «Каспийский» и ОАО «Каздорбанк» (учрежденный и зарегистрированный в 13 января 1989 года) заключили Соглашение о партнерстве и сотрудничестве. Конструктивный стиль деловых взаимоотношений между партнерами и глубокое понимание в результате открытого обмена информацией, планами и взаимных стажировок сотрудников выявили конкурентные преимущества и слабости партнеров и привели к пониманию взаимной пользы от углубления интеграции и необходимости реорганизации двух банков. Ситуация на финансовых рынках и, наблюдающиеся в банковской системе Республики Казахстан тенденции по консолидации банковских капиталов, а также сокращению числа банков, создали для банков – партнеров объективные условия для слияния.

12 декабря 1997 г. Национальный Банк Республики Казахстан выдал Генеральную лицензию №245 ОАО «Банк «Каспийский», образованному в результате добровольного слияния ЗАО «Банк «Каспийский» и ОАО «Каздорбанк».


16 февраля 2000 г. банк становится участником ЗАО «Казахстанский фонд гарантирования (страхования) вкладов физических лиц. Свидетельство №0011.В

Январе

2002 г. банк начал активное развитие розничного направления работы, что позволило по итогам года войти в десятку лидеров в рейтинге срочных депозитов физических лиц среди банков второго уровня Республики Казахстан.

1 августа 2003 г. в соответствии с Законом Республики Казахстан «Об акционерных обществах» от 13 мая 2003 года ОАО «Банк «Каспийский» прошел государственную перерегистрацию в органах юстиции в связи с изменением наименования на АО «Банк «Каспийский».

2 декабря 2003 г. Постановлением Правления Национального Банка Республики Казахстан от 2 декабря 2003 года № 408 АО «Банк «Каспийский» присвоен статус народного акционерного общества.

В 2006 год знаковым событием для «Каспийского» Банка стало появление крупного акционера в лице институционального инвестора «Бэринг Восток Капитал Партнерс», одного из самых успешных инвестиционных фондов на развивающихся рынках мира. «Бэринг Восток» управляет активами четырёх фондов прямых инвестиций в СНГ общим размером более $1.8 миллиардов.

Среди инвесторов фондов под управлением «Бэринг Восток» такие известные международные финансовые институты, как Европейский Банк Реконструкции и Развития, Международная Финансовая Корпорация, Нидерландское Агентство по Развитию FMO и многие другие пенсионные фонды, правительственные инвестиционные корпорации, университетские фонды из Америки, Европы и Азии. «Бэринг Восток» входит в состав «Бэринг Прайвит Эквити Партнерс Интернэшнл», группу управляющих фондами прямых инвестиций с $3,5 млрд. активов в странах СНГ, Азии, Индии, Европы и Латинской Америки.
