Материнская плата Asus Z87-PRO представляет собой компонент компьютера, предназначенный для установки и подключения других устройств и компонентов. Она имеет 4 слота памяти типа DIMM, что позволяет расширять объем оперативной памяти до 32 ГБ. Поддерживаемые тактовые частоты памяти включают 1333, 1500, 1600, 1666, 1800, 1866, 1900, 2000, 2100, 2133, 2200, 2250, 2400, 2450, 2600, 2666, 2800 и 3000 МГц.

Материнская плата не обладает функцией ECC, но поддерживает небуферизованную память. Ее совместимым производителем процессоров является Intel, а серией совместимых процессоров — Intel Celeron и Intel Pentium. Для установки процессора требуется разъем LGA 1150 (Socket H3), и данная плата поддерживает не более одного процессора SMP.
